About the team
Stevens Point Area Lacrosse, through its Central Wisconsin Select program, aims to unite players from Stevens Point, Mosinee, Marshfield, Waupaca, Wisconsin Rapids, and Wausau areas. The club’s primary goal is to foster player development by allowing athletes from different areas to play together, enhancing their skills, and preparing them for high school lacrosse. This collaborative approach not only improves individual abilities but also promotes teamwork and exposes players to diverse playing styles.
The club offers an extended season for 12U and 14U teams, running from early June to the end of July, with potential fall and winter opportunities. For high school players, the program operates year-round, except during the school team season from March to May. This structure allows for continuous development and competitive play opportunities throughout the year. Central Wisconsin Select emphasizes accessibility, aiming to provide an additional lacrosse season without the high costs typically associated with other summer or extended season teams in Wisconsin.
Stevens Point Area Lacrosse participates in various tournaments across the Midwest, including events in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and occasionally other states. This exposure to different competition levels and environments further enhances the players’ experience and skill development. The club’s commitment to player growth, regional unity, and affordable access to high-quality lacrosse training and competition positions it as a valuable resource for young lacrosse enthusiasts in central Wisconsin.
